DEVELOPMENT, INNOVATION AND TRAINING: APPSPHALT, THE NEW APP FOR LABORATORIES

Technological development of the BITAFAL Sustainable Asphalt Chair – UM

Weeks ago, we held a focus group at our house on the Appsphalt application, a specific technological development for the Uruguayan road industry that will allow specialized engineers and technicians to improve the dynamics of the Marshall Design, as well as that of asphalt and cold microagglomerate treatment projects.

This App was created as an academic work by Egon Hauser, Santiago Juani and Ignacio Franco, a team of young participants from the BITAFAL Sustainable Asphalt Chair – UM (CAS BITAFAL-UM), with the supervision of the director of the chair David Fontans and our general director Santiago Kröger.

La apuesta a la generación de herramientas digitales de calidad es uno de los objetivos de la CAS BITAFAL – UM, atendiendo a la demanda de una industria que transita un proceso de transformación, apuntando a la utilización de productos más eficientes, más seguros y respetuosos del medio ambiente.

ADVANCING IN R&D

Actualmente en Uruguay, tanto el sector público como el privado utilizan planillas de Excel para el diseño y control de materiales pero su falta de uniformidad entre instituciones, cambios en las especificaciones, la automatización limitada e insuficiente integración entre reportes implican un mantenimiento constante y posibilidad de errores.

Under this context, the development of an application designed to integrate the different tests of the same asphalt mixture sample arises, as well as for the design of mixtures and surface treatments. The objective is to implement a more precise, transparent and efficient system in compliance with technical specifications. This program assists the user in the design and calculation, also consolidating a traceable and reliable database that can be shared online with other actors in real time. In addition, each module contains suggestions for formula optimization, you can prepare reports that can be useful to present to the control body, among other functions.

Concebida para ser una herramienta de apoyo técnico de fácil utilización, Appsphalt fue diseñada contemplando los requisitos que plantean los nuevos pliegos licitatorios de la Dirección Nacional de Vialidad. Una vez registrados como usuarios de la misma, los técnicos pueden desarrollar su propio proyecto, modificando parámetros y valores, en la búsqueda de las soluciones más eficientes para cada obra.

At the event held in the CITEVI training room, we were accompanied by representatives of the country's main construction companies who, together with BITAFAL laboratory technicians, were able to learn first-hand about the benefits that the application offers both for the design and planning of road work, as well as for its maintenance.
