INVESTMENT IN ACCESS TO THE ARAPEY TERMS EXCEEDS $120 MILLION
The funds come mostly from the Inter-American Development Bank, together with resources from the national government and the departmental government.
Repair works began on the access road to the Arapey hot springs, in charge of the national capital construction company. The execution will last nine months and involves an investment of $122 million, about US$3 million.
The access road to the Arapey hot springs, which includes 19 kilometers between Route 3 and the thermal park, but which also leads visitors to the two 5-star hotels located there, was deteriorated for many years, generating innumerable complaints from tourists and private operators who clamored for a solution in this regard. Several traffic accidents, vehicle breakages and problems of all kinds have been generated in all this time, causing a disincentive for visitors who demanded so much for its repair.
Lima confirmed that, once the work is finished, heavy traffic will not be able to travel along that road, but must do so along the parallel rural road that leads to Route 3, at the access point to Pueblo Belén, a measure that aims to give the work a longer useful life.
