BITAFAL WILL EXHIBIT ITS FIRST ELECTRIC TRUCK AT THE ELECTRIC MOBILITY EXPO

BITAFAL WILL EXHIBIT ITS FIRST ELECTRIC TRUCK AT THE ELECTRIC MOBILITY EXPO

Next September at the Maroñas Racecourse

The first heavy-duty electric truck in Uruguay, the Volvo FM Electric model, which BITAFAL recently incorporated into its fleet, will be exhibited within the framework of the Electric Mobility Expo organized by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) at the Hipódromo de Maroñas.

Sustainability cuts across our organization and is part of our business strategy. Along these lines, we decided to incorporate the first electric heavy-duty truck in Uruguay to meet the demand of the metropolitan area; transporting asphalt through the driving of its assigned driver Andrea Ballarez.

Andrea is a single mother with two children, passionate about the world of transportation. She has experience in transportation and logistics, handling semi-trailers, trucks with automatic or manual dumpers, and now the first electric truck, challenge and commitment that motivate her to contribute to our team.

This investment was a milestone for Bitafal because it is the company's first step towards the transition to electromobility, which is linked to the company's decarbonization objectives. Bitafal is part of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and works towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Based on this commitment, one of the company's goals for the year 2030 is to change our fleet of 27 trucks. to electric vehicles.

The truck has a range of 300 km transporting up to 48 tons of gross weight and, together with the asphalt semi-trailer, measures 15 meters long.
Bitafal has its own electric vehicle charging stations in its production plants, supplied by photovoltaic solar plants.

BITAFAL BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE WITH CIRENEOS

BITAFAL BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE WITH CIRENEOS

At Bitafal, commitment to the community is more than words; It is an action that involves all of us who are part of the company

Therefore, this year we decided to turn that vocation into a concrete action. We choose to support Cireneos, the work that provides support to families who live in precarious conditions very close to our facilities, headed by priest Andrés Verde.

On this day, we dedicate our time to assembling and finishing benches and chairs made from the packaging of the raw materials of our production. These furniture will serve so that the members of this important social work can study in better conditions.

Furthermore, we take advantage of this opportunity to put into practice the cardinal values that govern us as an organization: team orientation, commitment to results, continuous improvement and integrity.
It was a day full of satisfaction, sharing lunch and reflection. Without a doubt, this experience motivates us to repeat this type of actions in the future.

AC30 MAX: THE SUSTAINABLE REVOLUTION IN PAVING

AC30 MAX: THE SUSTAINABLE REVOLUTION IN PAVING

The sustainable alternative to conventional asphalt improves the application and quality of pavements

The asphalt research and development work carried out by our Technical Department has been achieving excellent results: particularly with the AC30 MAX. Its recent application on Route 8 allowed us to verify the economic savings, the improvement in useful life, the environmental benefits as well as health and safety for workers.
In particular, we highlight the reduction of mixing and compaction temperatures by more than 35°C, which results in significant fuel savings, an improvement in the compaction of the mixture as well as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

By reducing the application temperature, truly significant economic savings are achieved, at a rate of 1% for every 1°C reduced. Likewise, it allows the product to be applied over greater distances, since temperature loss is no longer a limiting element in the logistics process.

In addition to reducing the number of compactor passes for each section under construction, achieving better compaction rates, it allows for rapid release of traffic. In addition, it improves the occupational safety of workers, reducing the possibility of accidents due to burns and increasing the comfort of all those who participate in a construction due to the significant reduction of fumes in all stages.

WE PRESENT THE NEW GENERATION OF MAX ASPHALT

WE PRESENT THE NEW GENERATION OF MAX ASPHALT

During the 11th AUC Asphalt Technical Conference, the main results were announced

The Uruguayan Roads Association organized its technical day on August 15 and 16. The event brought together authorities, technicians and representatives of the main road construction companies, who gathered in large numbers in the conference room of the Crystal Tower Hotel.

Our Transformation and Strategy Manager, Eng. Ignacio Kröger, was in charge of presenting about the new generation of MAX Sustainable Asphalts. Ignacio focused on an explanation of what warm mixtures consist of and what prospects they have in our country.

“The generation of sustainable solutions for the road industry is in BITAFAL's DNA,” Ignacio began by pointing out, who after explaining the technical characteristics that this line of products brings together, provided a complete overview of what is happening in the world with similar experiences. .

MAX Asphalt offers a series of benefits for our country, including: lower costs due to reduced fuel use, longer useful life of roads, greater safety and ease of application during construction.

“For us, introducing any product into the market seems extremely delicate”; He highlighted the laboratory work carried out in the company, with demanding tests and analysis, which are then continued in the field work.

Finally, the expert referred to the work being carried out with the recently inaugurated BITAFAL – UM Sustainable Asphalt Chair, a joint project with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Montevideo, where advanced students and graduates of disciplines linked to engineering road find an area where they can deepen their knowledge about Sustainable Asphalts and especially about warm mixtures, with the aim of being able to apply them to road production in the near future. “We hope at the next Ibero-Latin American Asphalt Congress (CILA) to be presenting the first works arising from the work of this chair,” he concluded.
