WE ADVANCE IN ACADEMIC WORK

WE ADVANCE IN ACADEMIC WORK

Next to the University of Montevideo

Since the creation of the BITAFAL – UM Sustainable Asphalt Chair, the synergy with that study house has been increasing day by day. A new instance in this sense was the Training in Asphalt Emulsions that our technical team provided for advanced Engineering students and professionals in the road sector. There Ignacio and Santiago Kröger spoke, providing an introduction to asphalt emulsions, their different applications and also about best practices in the road industry. The day was a success, allowing students and professionals to learn first-hand the advantages of using asphalt emulsions, through the experience of those who apply them in a large number of projects.

Visit to the BITAFAL plant

One of the objectives of the CAS is to allow students to come into contact with the reality of the industry. For this reason, together with the management team of the Faculty of Engineering (FIUM) we organized a group visit to our production plant. In it, the students were able to learn first-hand about the production process of asphalt and asphalt emulsions and visited our research and development laboratory, where these products are constantly analyzed and improved. For BITAFAL it was a great joy to welcome future professionals, with whom they will surely continue to interact throughout their professional career.

Job fair

Like every year, the FIUM organized its traditional Employment Fair, a day aimed at bringing companies closer to the faculty so that students can get in touch with the world of work in their specific areas. BITAFAL was present with a stand whose proposal was both informative and playful and which also featured the presentation of the company's 100% electric truck. Throughout the day, dozens of students came to learn more about the structure of our company and the professional development possibilities it offers.

Open Session BITAFAL – IEEM

We held the Bitafal IEEM Open Session, where participants had the opportunity to explore the Case Method, a valuable tool to address dilemmas in the road industry and strengthen decision-making skills. This methodology helps us: – Clearly identify the problems you face. – Define the desired future and the decisions you must make. – Explore action plans that resolve these dilemmas. – Imagine the consequences of your decisions before acting. We continue to promote knowledge!

PRESENT AT THE ELECTRIC MOBILITY EXPO

PRESENT AT THE ELECTRIC MOBILITY EXPO

With the first electric truck in Latin America

The incorporation of the first 100% heavy electric truck to our transport fleet has been a novelty and an example for the entire cargo transport sector in our country. That is why we were invited to participate in the first Electric Mobility Expo organized by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining on the grounds of the Maroñas National Racecourse.

Over the course of two days, thousands of visitors were able to get up close and personal with the imposing dimensions of our unit, inquiring about its features, its load capacity and its autonomy, among other aspects. To do this, in addition to having an explanatory video of all the technical details, we have the invaluable contribution of our designated driver Andrea Ballarres, who proved to be an expert in handling the equipment and also a great representative of BITAFAL regarding the requirements of visitors to the event.

The exhibition also constituted a forum to exchange on the advances of electric mobility in Uruguay and the challenges that lie ahead. In that instance, our Technical Director Santiago Kröger participated in the panel “Voices on the road: the experience of users in the territory”, presenting our experience, the first results obtained and the results to national authorities, business representatives and the media. specific charging infrastructure needs that heavy electric trucks require, thinking about extending their radius of action in the interior of the country.

The Electric Mobility Expo was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate with facts the great commitment to sustainability of our company, the commitment to reducing emissions and caring for the environment.

VOLUNTEERING WITH CIRENEOS

VOLUNTEERING WITH CIRENEOS

Doing for others

At Bitafal we are committed to the community we belong to. A feeling that involves all of us who are part of the company, to collaborate in those places where it is most needed.

That is why this year we decided to turn that vocation into an action to support Cireneos, the work that provides support to families who live in precarious conditions very close to our facilities, headed by priest Andrés Verde. A day that we dedicated to assembling and finishing benches and chairs made from packaging waste of the raw materials of our production, and that will serve so that the members of this important social work can study in better conditions.

The action was completed with the delivery of more than 70 pieces in the Santa Eugenia neighborhood, where the entire Cireneos team received us with great joy and quickly arranged for the use of the materials among the children of the community.

This experience was an excellent opportunity to put into practice the cardinals that govern us as an organization: team orientation, commitment to results, continuous improvement and integrity.

Fortunately, there were many of us who were able to be present at the volunteer day, sharing a lunch and a reflection, completing an action that left us with great satisfaction and that we will surely repeat in the future.
