INAUGURATION ROUTE 6
One of the most important sections of Route 6 reconstruction opened on February 19.
With the presence of the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, the minister, José Luis Falero, the director of Roads, Hernán Ciganda and an important crowd that approached the Bypass of San Ramón, 78 km of Route 6 of the PPP Route 6 of the PPP Vial Circuit 6 and 17 km of contract of the CVC company were inaugurated.
The project included the renewal and reinforcement of the structure of the road as well as corrections of the planialtimetry and improvements in road safety. It also involved the construction of seven bridges and the intervention of nine other structures through widening and reinforcement, totaling 16 improved structures. In addition, 15 traffic lights were implemented and 14 roundabouts were built and modernized to optimize safety and vehicular flow. The works were executed within 27 months since November 2023 and represented an investment of US $ 130 million.
One of the differentials in sustainability and innovation of the work is the incorporation of recycled pavement technology with foaming asphalt both in the plant and on site and then with a rolling layer with modified asphalt type PG 70-28 that the Cuchilla Grande consortium entrusted Bitafal as a supplier.
One of the outstanding works of the project was the construction of a bypass in San Ramón, which included a superior passage on the railroad at its intersection with Route 6 and three new bridges over the Santa Lucía River and its branches. Its non -flood design improves connectivity and road safety. This infrastructure is connected to Route 6 at both ends by illuminated roundabouts, as well as at its intersection with Route 12, ensuring a more efficient circulation. The total investment of these works amounted to $ 24 million.
The 17 km stretch between Km 90.500 and Km 108.060 of Route 6, had platform widen, applying a cemented rough layer of 22 cm thick in a width of 10 m and an asphalt mixture layer 7 cm thick in 9 m wide. Road signage was also renewed, both horizontal and vertical. These improvements were completed in 10 months with an investment of $ 200 million.
We thank the CVC company and the Cuchilla Grande consortium for the trust they have given us in the supply of asphalt products for said work.
