11th CONGRESS OF ROADS URUGUAYA

11th CONGRESS OF ROADS URUGUAYA

Last 8.9 and 10 November LATU received more than 350 players in the Uruguayan road in its biannual Congress.

He Bitafal group thereof he participated in the exhibition with an innovative proposal to know who work every day to be "Strategic Suppliers of his work". Also, from the technical point of view, we have a novel stereomicroscope for quality assessment emulsion was presented.

We participate in technical presentations 3 Qco works. Santiago Kröger with colleagues of national roads within Block Pavement and with the presence of several of our partners as Congressmen.

Congress had several new features such as new commercial exhibitors, including a section on the outside for big teams and presentation of technical papers by e-posters mode.

The opening of the Congress was in charge of the President of the AUC, Ing. Gisele Pingaro, the Minister of Transport, Víctor Rossi, Director of Mobility of the IMM, Pablo Inthamoussú, the Director of LATU and IDB representative for Uruguay.

After the opening ceremony, Eng. Juan Campana, Director of Engineering Argentina National Roads Authority, held a conference on "The new management National Roads Authority of Argentina: technical update" showing great work being done in the neighboring country roads.

Within the thematic blocks, more than 30 technical papers were presented on Transport, Road Safety, Structures, Management and Maintenance as well as floors.

He BITAFAL group He participated with three technical papers on "Evaluation of membranes SAMI after 7 years in service", "First stretch of asphalt rubber mixes warm in Uruguay" Y "Evolution of a stretch stabilized with cement" with interesting findings on each of the technologies applied.

Conferences were given by Ing. Boris Goloubintseff (IMM) "State and Status of Mobility Management Center, a year of its implementation and operation", Francis Pumares in Spain in Block Road Safety "Certified Barriers", Ing. Shlomo Liberman of Israel "Bridges of prestressed continuous beams" and Dr. Ing. Luis Guillermo Loría of LANAMME of Costa Rica with two Conferences "Application performance testing design blends" Y "Evaluation of rheological properties of modified".

Besides a round table held on "Road Maintenance" where different visions 20 years of the first CREMA contracts with participants by the MTOP, contractors, and consultants were exposed IDB.

At the close of Congress there was a special session on the new edition of the Book "Status of Roads Uruguaya"After almost 14 years without being edited and awards to the best works by Block.

A distinction was also awarded as the best work of Congress "Bowstring arch bridges across the board" Ing. Fernando SACEEM radio, over bridges made in Tacuarembó Paso del Bote where BITAFAL Group actively participated in some of the same innovations as waterproofing membrane anchored board and neoprene seals as reported in Bulletins #78 Y #80.

The exhibition was varied and new companies participating in it. The new addition was the outdoor exhibition with displays of equipment.

We hope that the next edition still loaded with new features.

Geotechnics Vial course _ Uruguayan Association of Roads

Framed within the Master of Road Engineering dictates UNR in Argentina under an agreement with the Uruguayan Association of Roads, a new course of Geotechnics Vial was issued between 6 and 9 last September with more than 30 participants from various companies and agencies .

The topics of this course were the physical properties of soils, permeability, consolidation, shear strength, behavior patterns, soil auscultation and design of embankments.

In addition to case studies they were performed calculation software. For more information on future courses www.auc.com.uy

ASPHALT TECHNICAL WORKSHOP 7th.

Monday July 4 took place in the Crystal Tower Hotel Montevideo 7th Asphalt Technical Seminar organized by the Uruguayan Association of Roads in conjunction with the Standing Committee of Asphalt Argentina. It was attended by nearly 110 national road technicians who listened and participated in conferences exhibitors from Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.

The talks were on current issues of technology paving Uruguay from the use of Capeseal, the bitumen stabilized materials as those used in Route 3, to the performance of thin asphalt mixes F10 type, such as that in Ruta Interbalnearia recently.
Mr. Paternostro began with “Cape Seal: General concepts, national specifications and local examples” showing the results of the first sections carried out in Uruguay, both in its good macro-texture and in its impermeability, as well as the specifications currently used. Then, Dr. Ing. Fernando Martínez (Argentina) from IMAE presented "Prediction models of the rheological properties of asphalt binders", in which empirical tests such as penetration, softening point and Brookfield viscosity are used to predict rheological properties of asphalt binders. asphalts quite tightly without the need to use an expensive rheometer (DSR).
Eng. Rosana Marcozzi and Dr. Francisco Morea (Argentina) from LEMIT presented us with “Experiences in Argentina with warm asphalt mix technologies. New tests applied to the characterization of its performance ”, showing the good behavior of this type of mixture in the experiences carried out and opening the debate on its application at the regional level. In Uruguay, only one section was completed in 2012 but we are working from BITAFAL to repeat the experience and draw better conclusions.
During the afternoon Ing. Germán Bavdaz (Argentina) told us about the "evolution of physical parameters of asphalt mixtures after 14 years of service", focused on the performance of such thin mixtures F10 on the Autopista del Oeste, one of the busiest in Argentina.
For closing Eng. Joaquim Kemp (Germany) made an interesting presentation on "BSM -Materials bitumen stabilized. Current state of technology ", a technology that is already being implemented in Route 3 and has a very promising future in Uruguay.
