BITAFAL AND UNIVERSITY OF MONTEVIDEO JOIN TO CREATE THE CHAIR “SUSTAINABLE ASPHALTS BITAFAL – UM”
The initiative seeks to provide knowledge and experience to new generations of engineers for the country's road development.
The creation of the “BITAFAL – UM Sustainable Asphalts” Chair is an important step in promoting innovation and sustainable development in the country's road sector. This initiative demonstrates BITAFAL's commitment to the training of new generations of engineers and to the future of the country.
This applied research center will be a pioneer in the development of knowledge about asphalt pavements for the country's road sector, promoting innovation and bringing academia, research and innovation closer to the Uruguayan reality. The Chair is committed to environmental and social sustainability, and the link with the public sector to contribute to the country's road development in a comprehensive and efficient manner.
The “BITAFAL – UM Sustainable Asphalts” Chair is created with the purpose of joint development of advisory, training, research and dissemination work related to the upcoming challenges of the paving sector and related industries: new techniques and materials, circular economy, efficiency energy, decarbonization, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
It will offer students a wide range of resources for their training, including:
- Internships and internships in the company, where they can apply their knowledge in the real world.
- Access to BITAFAL infrastructure, such as laboratories and specialized equipment.
- Field knowledge, through visits to road works and projects in development.
- Possibilities to delve deeper into academic research, in collaboration with experts from the company and the university.
