The Technical Director of BITAFAL and CILA Delegate in Uruguay, Santiago Kröger, highlighted the quality of the presentations of the Uruguayan technicians, indicating that “we are proud that a delegation of young engineers from our country interact at the level of technicians from the developed world. "This makes us believe that the path that the public sector is taking together with the private company will be reflected in quality public road work that is sustainable and for the benefit of all Uruguayans."

The joint effort of MTOP and BITAFAL allowed 12 engineers from the Ministry to be present at this important event. Throughout the week, they presented their technical works, which in many cases arise from the application of innovative techniques and materials in public works in our country. The initiative had a great impact on the organization of this edition, which is why BITAFAL received recognition for the effort made during the special Congress awards ceremony.

As for the most notable topics discussed, they were innovations in digitalization, use of artificial intelligence and road connectivity, so much so that the Founders Award went to a work on the matter. Uruguay is not far away and presented technological solutions for monitoring road construction and the general condition of routes and highways, through the development of specific applications with these functionalities.

Sustainability remains the most important topic of the Congress with a multitude of technical works on recycling, use of tire dust, warm mixtures and all their combinations as well as environmental statements and calculations on the reduction of the carbon footprint.

Other notable topics are advances in new testing methodologies on asphalt mixtures, the use of waste from other industries, balanced mixture design and self-repair of pavements.

The next edition of CILA will be in Paraguay in November 2025 and an excellent Uruguayan presence is once again predicted, both in quantity and technical quality of its members.

PROTAGONISTS OF THE COUNTRY'S ROAD DEVELOPMENT: NEW PARQUE DEL PLATA INTERCHANGE

PROTAGONISTS OF THE COUNTRY'S ROAD DEVELOPMENT: NEW PARQUE DEL PLATA INTERCHANGE

One of the most anticipated road works before the start of the season was inaugurated on time.

The access interchange to Parque del Plata, located at kilometer 51 of the Interspa Route, was inaugurated on December 22, providing greater agility and security for those who visit that spa and for the thousands of motorists who travel to and from the East of the Uruguayan coast.

It is a fundamental work within the framework of the M/43 maintenance contract in charge of the Interbalnearia Oeste Consortium and it was a great challenge for the Molinsur company, which carried out the work in record time and to which we thank the trust in the supply of asphalt products. BITAFAL for carrying it out.

The grade-separated interchange, erected on Avenida Argentina, covers an area of 800 meters and is a testament to careful engineering and planning. One of the highlights is the construction of a 97.80 meter long bridge with a clearance of 4.70 meters, in addition to the implementation of a drainage system that includes the installation of 1,400 meters of pipes. The road surface was made with BITAFLEX AM2 modified asphalt provided by BITAFAL, ensuring a long useful life for the infrastructure.
The improvements are not limited only to the road structure, since complementary works have been carried out to guarantee the comfort and safety of pedestrians. The paving of the service roads and the construction of a new pedestrian path are an integral part of this project.
