PROTAGONISTS OF THE COUNTRY'S ROAD DEVELOPMENT: NEW PARQUE DEL PLATA INTERCHANGE

PROTAGONISTS OF THE COUNTRY'S ROAD DEVELOPMENT: NEW PARQUE DEL PLATA INTERCHANGE

One of the most anticipated road works before the start of the season was inaugurated on time.

The access interchange to Parque del Plata, located at kilometer 51 of the Interspa Route, was inaugurated on December 22, providing greater agility and security for those who visit that spa and for the thousands of motorists who travel to and from the East of the Uruguayan coast.

It is a fundamental work within the framework of the M/43 maintenance contract in charge of the Interbalnearia Oeste Consortium and it was a great challenge for the Molinsur company, which carried out the work in record time and to which we thank the trust in the supply of asphalt products. BITAFAL for carrying it out.

The grade-separated interchange, erected on Avenida Argentina, covers an area of 800 meters and is a testament to careful engineering and planning. One of the highlights is the construction of a 97.80 meter long bridge with a clearance of 4.70 meters, in addition to the implementation of a drainage system that includes the installation of 1,400 meters of pipes. The road surface was made with BITAFLEX AM2 modified asphalt provided by BITAFAL, ensuring a long useful life for the infrastructure.
The improvements are not limited only to the road structure, since complementary works have been carried out to guarantee the comfort and safety of pedestrians. The paving of the service roads and the construction of a new pedestrian path are an integral part of this project.

INAUGURATION ROUTE 6

INAUGURATION ROUTE 6

This is the section between Sauce and route 11 of the Circuito Vial 6 PPP contract, which includes the rehabilitation of 78 kilometers of route 6

On June 22, the Minister of Transportation and Public Works, José Luis Falero, together with Undersecretary Juan José Olaizola, inaugurated the works on the section of Route 6 between the Sauce bypass and Route 11.
This work is being carried out with the innovative technology of recycled pavement with foamed asphalt both in the plant and on site and then with a surface layer with modified asphalt type PG 70-28 that the Cuchilla Grande consortium entrusted to Bitafal as supplier.
The improvements made to the section imply an improvement in the existing infrastructure, including junctions, bridges, new pavement, signage, lighting and drainage. Interventions were carried out on five bridges, widening and reinforcing their structures to improve their performance.
In addition, two closed access roundabouts to Sauce were built on the south and center sides, replacing the existing roundabouts and improving the pavement, signage, and lighting. These improvements in the junctions have contributed significantly to road safety in the area. Minister Falero highlighted the importance of these works in the quality of the infrastructure as well as the estimated durability, since companies must be responsible for maintenance for more than 20 years. The investment in this section was approximately 1,700,000 dollars.

THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY, AXIS OF THE XXI CILA

THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY, AXIS OF THE XXI CILA

More than 60% of the works that will be presented have the circular economy as their axis

The outstanding topics are the rejuvenation and recycling of pavements, the use of waste from other industries, the use of low-temperature techniques, among others. That is why the master conferences will be focused on these important issues in a sector highly committed to caring for the environment.

We will have the pleasure of knowing first-hand how countries like Australia and New Zealand base their road management strategy on pavement recycling and surface treatments with Eng. Steve Patrick from the Australian Road Research Board, author of the “Austroads Guide for Pavement Technology Part 4K: Bituminous Irrigation”, which is used as a design and selection guide throughout Australia.

In turn, the commercial exhibition will have the presence of leaders in the industry both in the recycling of pavements and additives and products for a more sustainable road construction.

FIUBA PAVEMENT LABORATORY

We visited one of the pavement laboratories more modern region of

The laboratory of the Department of Transportation of the FIUBA carried out by Ing. Juan Campana and Ing. Alejandro Bisio are part of a major renovation carried out by Vialidad Nacional a few years ago, supporting universities and different district laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment. of Highway.

We had the pleasure of visiting the facilities, knowing how the laboratory works and taking the opportunity to strengthen even more the ties with this University of Argentina.

The laboratory has capacities for the analysis of the different asphalt paving materials as well as equipment for the design and evaluation of mixtures. It has a complete laboratory for analysis of asphalt binders both by traditional tests and by grade PG. It also has aggregate and filler evaluation equipment as well as dynamic soil evaluation equipment.

As for asphalt mixtures, they have different types of mixers and compactors for the preparation of various test specimens, as well as all the tools for their correct sawing and preparation. The highlight is the mixture evaluation equipment that has both dynamic modulus according to European and American standards and fatigue evaluation equipment in various formats. Obviously the rutting and binder content equipment and others are present in such a modern laboratory.
