CAPESEAL ON ROUTE 12
Another work carried out with Capeseal pavement on our national routes
The recently inaugurated work was carried out in less than 4 months and involved the base surcharge, the recycling with Portland cement and the execution of a Capeseal in 17 km of extension. The works carried out by Serviam between Solanas and Ruta 9 finished ahead of schedule, showing the advantages of this type of pavement execution both in quality and in productivity.
With this work, there are already more than 6 national routes that have this solution in some of their sections and other works are planned for 2022.
The rehabilitation of the section implied a base surcharge of 9 cm, the recycling of the material together with the old surface treatment in 20 cm with Portland cement and an irrigation of curing with emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFAL 65. Then, for the Capeseal, the simple bituminous treatment with emulsion was carried out IRRIGATION BITAFLEX 65 P40 and aggregate 5-14 mm in a width of 7.2 m to later be covered by Type II cold microagglomerate made with emulsion BITAFLEX MICRO 62 P25.
The recycling and bituminous treatment works were carried out by the Macromáquinas company, which has a new recycling train as well as a self-propelled gravel machine to ensure the quality of the work carried out. The microagglomerate was executed by Serviam with its high-capacity Romanelli equipment in just 8 working days.
The investment estimated at about USD 160,000 / km and the quality of the work carried out strengthen the concept that recycling combined with Capeseal is the future of many of our roads.
