XXXIX ASPHALT MEETING

The Permanent Asphalt Commission of Argentina organized its traditional Asphalt Meeting in virtual format from 26 to November 28 last. The congress was scheduled to be held in June 2020 at the Iguazú Falls in Misiones, a place that remains open to be held in future editions. More than 1200 people registered and more than 800 were connected simultaneously in the most important moments of the event.

Presentations on recycling pavements, the use of modifying additives for asphalt and mixtures, as well as progress in tests on asphalt mixtures and emulsions, stood out.

Grupo Bitafal was present with two papers, one on our book on surface treatments and the other on asphalt emulsions by degree of performance.

The conference was attended by various works by authors from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Bolivia, among other countries, presenting on various topics related to asphalt pavements. The keynote conferences were given on the other side of the Atlantic with the presence of Lic. Ma. of Mar Colás, Engineer Adriana Martínez and Engineer Alberto Bardesi from Spain.

From Uruguay, Eng. Faustina Keuliyan also participated, presenting on "Design and implementation of an on-site recycling project with foamed asphalt in Uruguay" and at the closing of the Congress a tribute was made to Eng. Jorge Agnusdei where Eng. Lucio Cáceres a few words remembering one of the founders of CILA.

Also at the closing it was carried out by the Qco. Santiago Kröger, Eng. Lucio Cáceres as delegates of the CILA in Uruguay and Eng. Boris Goloubinsteff as President of the AUC and of the Organizing Commission, the invitation to the XXI CILA to be held in Punta del Este in November 2021.

The AUC confirms the holding of the XXI CILA together with the 13th Uruguayan Highway Congress

The Uruguayan Association of Roads launched the Bulletin N ° 1 of the XXI Ibero-Latin American Asphalt Congress (CILA) that will be held in Punta del Este from 21 to November 26 of 2021 together with the 13th Congress of the Uruguayan Highway. Both events will be held simultaneously, taking advantage of the facilities of the Convention Center and Enjoy Hotel that provides an optimal setting for holding this type of Congress.

Grupo Bitafal is a sponsor of the event and we invite you to submit summaries of technical works until 03-30-2021. This XXI CILA will be a unique instance for local authors to present at one of the most important congresses in the world of asphalt. 32 years have passed since the V CILA, which was also held in Punta del Este in 1989, and it is to be expected a long time for another CILA Congress to be held in the region.

As reported in the "Making Roads" # 108, the XX IBWC past in Mexico was a success and with great presence of Uruguay, who is responsible for organizing the XXI IBWC to be held in Punta of the East in 2021. XX IBWC IN MEXICO

A large contingent of Uruguayan at the XX Congress of the Asphalt Iberolatinoamericano held in Guadalajara, Mexico

From the 25 to the November 29th He was held at the Performing Arts Center of Guadalajara a new edition of the most important congress in the world of asphalt. This time more than 800 technicians from 27 countries were present to show progress in binders and asphalt paving technology.

The strong presence of Uruguay was to ratify the realization of the XXI IBWC in the city of Punta of the East in November 2021. The launch was performed by a campaign of expectation during the Congress with a stand of Uruguay, an information campaign through leaflets and finally the announcement at the closing ceremony along with a video prepared for the occasion.

Organized by the AMAAC (Mexican Association of Asphalt), the WHAT XX It was held in conjunction with the Expo Asphalt Mexico and consisted of 5 days of intense knowledge sharing and closer ties between the different actors in the world of asphalt.

They presented more than 150 technical papers in various forms such as plenary lectures 2 auditoriums and simultaneous presentations in the same room with multiple screens and in which participants approached according to topics of interest.

There were also six lectures by prominent experts who spoke on asphalt mixes, infrastructure, design methods and auscultation of pavements.

Uruguay was present with 10 technical papers presented of which 7 were performed oral presentation format. Bitafal group He presented on emulsions degree of performance on mixtures with highly modified asphalts and on agile trials DSR (rheometer) to determine characteristics of asphalt mixtures. Serviam presented a paper on the design and implementation of a foamed bitumen recycling by Ing. Faustina Keuliyan and also on the rehabilitation of Route 60 with the Capeseal technology by Ing. Rodrigo Tejería and Pablo Carranza.

Furthermore Eng. Oscar Giovannon (Arg.) Presented the thesis of Ing. José Luis Martucci on recycled foamed performed in Route 3 and James Kröger presented thesis Ing. Gerardo Fernandez on primer emulsions.
