The recent inauguration of the renovated section of Route 15, known as the “route of the 99 curves”, covered 60 kilometers from Rocha to the junction with Route 13. The significant improvement involved the replacement of the original bituminous treatment with a binder solution asphalt with modified asphalt type AM3 provided by BITAFAL in addition to a planialtimetric readjustment, widening, surcharge and stabilized with portland, ensuring greater durability. The work also included the construction of a culvert over the Casimiro stream and new bridges in Las Conchas, Arroyo India Muerta and Sarandí de la Paloma.

The Minister of Transportation and Public Works, José Luis Falero, highlighted the decentralization and investment close to 400 million dollars that Rocha will experience in this five-year period. He announced the upcoming inauguration of the section of route 15 from Rocha to Lascano in the first half of next year and the transformation of route 13 to zero ballast. At the same event, a new passenger transport line from the Rutas del Sol company was enabled, which will connect routes 19 and 15 with the capital, promising greater communication and integration for Rocha and neighboring departments.

Bitafal was present at the commemoration of Latu and the National Road Directorate for 30 years of collaboration to improve the quality of road works.

On December 6, in the Auditorium of the Latu Technology Park and the National Road Directorate of the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works, they celebrated the continuous collaboration in improving the quality control of the materials used in road works.

Present at the event were the Minister of Transportation and Public Works, José Luis Falero, the President of Latu, Ruperto Long and the national director of roads, Hernán Ciganda. Bitafal managers were able to exchange their experience and contribution in the country's road industry.

In this context, the former Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Lucio Cáceres, sent some words in which he highlighted the leading role of the company in the development of road constructions. “The deregulation of the Ancap asphalt monopoly, the Latu laboratory, and the development of the Bitafal company, were three fundamental axes to put the country in the road situation,” he said.

On Saturday afternoon, November 25, the Bitafal team celebrated another year of achievements and closed 2023 with its entire team. The meeting took place in a private farm near the factory and was the opportunity to renew commitment and reinforce the company's values.

The event aimed to recognize the importance of production and all the changes that have been implemented, as well as the magnitude of the investment that has been made recently. The work carried out by employees throughout the year and the value of the company's human capital were especially highlighted. Santiago Kröger took the opportunity to point out that being part of Bitafal should always be a good experience for everyone. This good relationship that has been built consolidates the path of innovation, changes and improvements in management that the firm has been carrying out for some months now. He highlighted the focus on sustainability and investment for growth. He in turn highlighted that the obstacles they faced at the beginning of the year united them and strengthened them. “We have invested in various teams, always focused on efficiency,” he said and indicated that “the Bitafal of tomorrow is innovation and sustainability as the central axis.” “This year has been one of the most important years in the history of Bitafal, we have supplied 50% of the asphalt in a record year, almost 120 thousand tons of asphalt have been sold in Uruguay and we handle 60 thousand tons that have been a historical record” explained Kröger and added that a similar 2024 will come in terms of volume. He thanked each of those who are part of the company for their commitment and effort. The second edition of the event, which had the support of various governmental and local entities, was successfully held from November 30 to December 3 at the Punta del Este Convention & Exhibition Center.

During the four days of the event, more than 350 brands from more than 35 countries were presented, occupying 6,000 m2 of stands and highlighting trends in electric mobility, digitalization and urban logistics.

The Bitafal company acquires the first electric truck for heavy transport in Latin America. It was presented by Volvo and Cir within the framework of the Expo Carga in Punta del Este 2023 and was officially delivered to the company on December 9.

The new unit was presented at the Expo Carga in Punta del Este, in an event attended by authorities from Volvo, Cir and Bitafal executives.

This unit has a range of 300 kilometers. With an approximate investment of about 500 thousand dollars, Bitafal aims to turn it into a symbol of the company's values, modernity, avant-garde and sustainability. During the Expo Carga in Punta del Este the unit was exhibited and the technical details of the truck and its benefits were explained.

The official handover of the keys to the new truck took place on December 9 at Bodega Garzón in a private event, in which the highest executives of the companies Volvo, Cir – representatives of the brand in Uruguay – and Bitafal participated. .

Within its sustainability and environmentally friendly road construction plan, the company adds this action that positions it as a pioneer in the inclusion of this type of vehicles in the industry. SYMPOSIUM “SUSTAINABILITY AND RESILIENCE IN ASPHALT PAVING”

The event organized by the CPA in Buenos Aires was a success in technical content and organization.
With the in-person participation of more than 110 professionals from Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia, as well as a streaming broadcast for the entire world, the Symposium held on September 28 at the NH Collection Hotel was an excellent reason to meet again and exchange about the implementation of sustainable and clean technologies in asphalt paving.
In addition to prominent technicians from Argentina and Brazil, the event included the participation of Engineers Alberto Bardesi and Rodrigo Miró who, through videoconference, made interesting presentations of the reality in Europe and in the world of these technologies.
Authorities from the National Highway Directorate, the Buenos Aires Provincial Highway Directorate, the Argentine Chamber of Construction and the Argentine Highway Association participated in the opening ceremony. Then the event started with “The incorporation of resilience in road infrastructure and other emergencies” by Eng. Pablo Bolzan, followed by Eng. Juan Campana (UBA) on the “UBA-BID Project on sustainability in road construction.”
From Spain, Dr. Ing. Rodrigo Miro presented to us about “Innovations in asphalt pavements and their adaptation to environmental conditions” followed by “Sustainable pavements: experiences in the use of wet-modified asphalt with recycled plastics in asphalt mixtures” of Dr. Eng. Silvia Angelone and Eng. Marina Casaux.
To close the morning conferences, Eng. Rafael Martins from the KRATON company told us about the “Sustainability and Performance using Modified Asphalts.”

Based in Foz de Iguazú from September 19 to 22, the sessions corresponding to the 25th ENACOR – National Road Conservation Meeting and the 48th RAPv – Annual Paving Meeting were held, together with the 4th ExpoEnacor. The event included 26 conferences, 6 short courses, 3 round tables and the presentation of 127 technical-scientific works as well as case studies of works.
Considered the largest transportation infrastructure event in Brazil, the meeting brought together professionals from all over the country to discuss the main trends and challenges in the area, bringing together more than 1,500 people including researchers, leading experts, university students, representatives of public and private companies. , public bodies, organizations and associations.

TRAINING CYCLE ON ASPHALT EMULSIONS

BITAFAL begins with a new training cycle in the use of asphalt emulsions and high-performance surface treatments.
On September 15, the second training day was held for technical and operational personnel of the MTOP Regionals and construction companies.
On this occasion we were accompanied by regional directors, district managers, assistants, engineers, operators, crew managers, and truck drivers from Regionals 2, 4 and 10.

The training was led by Claudio, Ignacio and Santiago Kröger, and took place in the company's offices with the objective of providing precise information about the products, usefulness, uses and benefits of these to MTOP officials, who are in direct contact with that type of materials.

The meeting had a theoretical and a practical part, as well as a space for the exchange of information and concerns. This initiative is part of a training plan that Bitafal promotes and is aimed at decision makers and actors who are direct and indirect users of the different inputs produced by the company.
It is an action to approach customers that is part of a broader strategy to disseminate advantages and benefits to publicize the work carried out by the company in production, innovation, research and development.
