The Ruta 7 Foundation together with the Faculty of Engineering and with the support of the Congress of Mayors and the CURE organized a Seminar on the advances of methodologies and techniques for the improvement and rehabilitation of rural roads on November 17.

It was held at the new headquarters of the CURE (Eastern Regional University Center) in the city of Treinta y Tres and in which various technicians from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, the Faculty of Engineering, and Fundación Ruta 7, consultants and Construction Directors of various Departmental Governments.

The topics covered ranged from the design of pavements with low traffic volume, stabilization with hydraulic binders such as lime, ash and Portland cement to the experiences gathered in regional events such as the 1st Argentine Congress of Rural Roads and the Basic Roads Course held in Chile.

More than 60 technicians from Municipalities, Roads, companies and the University participated in the seminar.

At the end of it, an interesting exchange was made between those present on how the stabilization techniques with cement still do not enter the range of possibilities for rural roads despite the incorporation of technology at the national level and how it should be done so that it is done. reality.

VISIT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTEVIDEO CITEVI

For the third consecutive year we visit students of Civil Engineering at the University of Montevideo in our facilities. The activity is part of the course of Civil Laboratory III specifically on aggregates, binders and asphalt mixtures.

In the same an approach is given to building materials pavement comprising an asphalt mixture, testing quality control thereof, the design criteria of the mix, an evaluation of its mechanical properties and details of the activity laboratory practice compared to those who represent its future activity, such as road builders.

The activity is focused on the design of an asphalt mixture according to the Marshall method. In principle, a theoretical review of the method and national regulations was carried out. Subsequently, asphalt mixtures with different asphalt contents were made in the laboratory and test methods were evaluated to determine the characteristics of the mixture and of the aggregates that were being used. Once the capabilities of each of the systems were determined, the students processed the information and interpreted the results.

In addition to performing conventional tests, as wear LA or mixtures dosing by the Marshall method, seek to bring students to new technologies and assays as Microdeval comment on other methodologies existing dosage.

WORKS IN PROGRESS Route 8

XVII Argentine Congress on Road AND TRANSIT

A great Uruguayan delegation participated in the Argentine Congress on Road and Traffic, held from 24 to 28 October in the city of Rosario, Santa Fe.

During the 5 intense days, more than two thousand people participated in several events simultaneously as the XXXVIII Meeting of Asphalt organized by the CPA, the III International Seminar on Concrete Roads organized by the ICPA, the XI ITS International Congress and 9th Expovial Argentina, among others.

over 90 special lectures were presented by 86 lecturers (47 of them international) and about 100 technical papers by 435 professionals and technicians from 16 different countries. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Transport, Guillermo Dietrich, governor of Santa Fe, the Mayor of Rosario and all the authorities of the National Roads Authority, the Provincial Roads, PIARC, the AAC, the CPA and other organizations linked to the field.

One of the most important points of the Congress was the presentation by the new authorities of the National Highways Plan Works of the new structure, investments in sophisticated regional laboratories and the presentation of the new General Pliego updated with the recommendations of the CPA as to asphalt mixtures.
