FIRST TRANCHE OF ASPHALT IN URUGUAY HiMA

FIRST TRANCHE OF ASPHALT IN URUGUAY HiMA

the first experimental section using highly modified asphalt (HiMA) was performed in Uruguay

The new highly modified asphalt (HiMA) developed by sion, He was executed by Necklace last August in the widening of Route 101. The section in question consists of 600 meters above prior to entering the roundabout junction Nicolich (direction Montevideo) outside lane. The aim of HIMA provide durability to asphalt, primarily because of its outstanding resistance to cracking and permanent deformation.

The original project consists of a black base with conventional AC-30 asphalt 12 cm on which a road surface with 5 cm AM3 is then applied. Colier was proposed, with the approval of the MTOP, 600 m replace the AC-30 HIMA of which 300 m in thickness was reduced to 10 cm (17% reduction).

Asphalt (17)

And extracted with witness samples of the asphalt plant will proceed to perform tests of dynamic modulus, and fatigue loaded in four-point beam wheel. With structural package information and research, it will proceed to use mechanistic empirical design programs, such as BackViDe (IMAE) to predict their behavior.

We appreciate the confidence Colier MTOP and apply technology to allow himâ for the first time on our roads. The research results will be presented at the XII Congress of the Road Uruguaya on 25, 26 and 27 September and the XX IBWC Mexico 25-29 November.

INAUGURATION OF LOW RIDE IN BUENOS AIRES

INAUGURATION OF LOW RIDE IN BUENOS AIRES

Under the Walk is a 7.1 kilometer road corridor connecting the Illia and Buenos Aires-La Plata highway.

We had the opportunity to tour the recently opened Paseo del Bajo works, construction facilitating cross the city of Buenos Aires in just ten minutes already benefit some 12 thousand vehicles per day, between heavy and light. We invite you to read the note to know the details of the various stages where we were present and see pictures of such a work of engineering.

At the junction of the 25 de Mayo and Ricardo Balbín highways (Buenos Aires-La Plata), this work begins, which, although it had been planned since the 1980s, had never been carried out. The project consisted of about 7,300 meters in total length, in viaduct typologies, level sections, semi-covered trenches and open pit. The work was built in three sections (A, B and C) by 4 construction companies, IECSA, COARCO, GREEN and CEOSA. Section A consists of a viaduct and in particular was divided into two sections: A-South, which connects with the Buenos Aires-La Plata and 25 de Mayo highways, and A-Norte with the Illia highway. Sections B and C are mostly low level. Transversal crossings between Microcentro and Puerto Madero were also installed through several streets, and together with the 60,000 m² of new green spaces of squares and parks, the historical barriers that separated Buenos Aires from the Río de la Plata were eliminated. The terms of the work were 17 months for section A and 28 months for sections B and C, at an approximate cost of US$650 million.

The configuration of the highway is two lanes in each direction of traffic, each lane approximately 11 meters wide, with New Jersey TL5 concrete guardrails. The rolling course in the viaduct sections consisted of a fine leveling layer of asphalt sand with modified asphalt type AM3, about 3 cm, followed by a 7 cm layer of SMA 19. In the low-level sections, a 7 cm layer of conventional asphalt added to another 7 cm of SMA 19. Some 832 beams were placed in the viaduct sections, of which 796 were manufactured in the plant, with a double T section and lengths between 21 and 26 meters, in all alleged cases. Then there were 36 special beams which break down as follows:

- nine beams 36 meters long, 1.90 high and 120 tons, manufactured in situ, post-tensioned and mounted on spans of 36 meters above the Illia highway.

- two beams 42 meters, 1.90 tall, made in situ post-tensioned and mounted on a branch access.

- 25 beams 42 meters, height 2.5, 180 tons of which 6 were manufactured in situ, post-tensioned, and 19 which were prefabricated segments (7 segments per beam) to be assembled and tesaron in the trace. These beams were mounted on the main boards where will the lower rail level.

All the special beams were assembled by means of two frames that ran along tracks perpendicular to the layout. The beams were moved to the assembly site with an innovative traction buggy system, where they were raised and mounted above the spans. Placing the beams for the viaduct presented great challenges. We had the immense pleasure of witnessing the placement of the monumental piece of 42 meters and 180 tons, as can be seen in the photos.

Like any project of this magnitude, the work on Paseo del Bajo had other challenges, which had to be resolved with fair schedules. Among other factors, they had to work in very confined spaces, always allowing (although with difficulties) traffic at all times. In addition, when working in the vicinity of the Río de la Plata, it was also important to take into account the water table when excavating for the trenches, and also to consider sanitation services with large pipes that had to be avoided. Despite these complications, the work was completed in a timely manner, being inaugurated on the 27th of last month.

We congratulate all the professionals responsible for carrying out this magnificent work of engineering and we appreciate the kind invitation to witness a project of this nature.

BAUMA 2019

BAUMA 2019

The biggest event of the construction broke records of participation and exhibitors.

For the third consecutive year BITAFAL group traveled to the city of Munich to participate BAUMA. This event, held every three years, was the biggest in its history and where more than 3700 companies presented their products and services. During the 7 days of the fair, from 8 to 14 April, 620,000 visitors came from 200 countries to learn about the latest advances in technology in both civil construction and road.

This time, the fairgrounds, opened new areas reaching 614,000 m2 of exhibition, fair really an eyesore.

From Uruguay several technicians and businessmen were present to meet new products and to incorporate these technologies in our country. We can proudly assure how many construction equipment companies mention Uruguay as a benchmark in innovation and incorporation of the latest trends in equipment and techniques. This is thanks to the joint work that many of the actors in the road family have been doing in recent years.

The world's leading trade fair for construction machinery, building materials machinery, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment, generated the best results in the exhibition's 65-year history. The number of visitors increased by around 40,000 over the total for the previous event in 2016. More than 250,000 visitors came from countries outside of Germany. The top 10 visiting countries after Germany were: Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland and Great Britain. The fair also saw a strong increase in the attendance of foreign visitors. China, Australia and Japan made significant gains in this group.

The most impressive stands were again the Liebherr, Caterpillar and Wirtgen. These exhibitors have whole sheds or buildings built exclusively for the fair, with exhibition equipment, meeting rooms, restaurants and shows to showcase the latest innovations.

Overall trends in this latest edition were hybrid engines for construction equipment, the 4.0 generation equipment, wireless technology for many applications and automated almost completely equipment.

Another interesting experience is the virtual reality that is being used for operator training and for different applications such as security awareness at work or even see the finished project from within.

The next edition will be held from 4 to 10 April 2022 at Messe München also in the beautiful city of Munich.

What are the treatments Multiple Trabados®?

What are the treatments Multiple Trabados®?

The TMT® are an innovative way to run single and double treatments, which improves the mechanical interlocking of aggregates and minimizes risks of landslides.

Its development is linked to the use of emulsions it allows full coverage of aggregates and which differs from the conventional methods as applicable.

They can be run at any time of the year and on any surface, allowing traffic early release with conventional methods than aesthetics. Success depends on the type and quality of materials in conjunction with the proper technique. It is ideal for initial treatment of stabilized bases technique.

The TMT® They are the product of several years of observation and continuous improvement of construction procedures with laboratory research, new product development, development plan and implementation on site.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • It involves placing the right amount of binder and aggregate at the appropriate time and place, saving up to 20% of materials.
  • optimum mechanical and chemical resistance is achieved by the way it is run, accelerating the curing process and accommodating the stone to ensure detachment almost zero.
  • The method includes a number of key intermediate steps substantially increase the adhesion between the aggregates.
  • aeration of the emulsion is favored, allowing further exposure to external agents which accelerate curing.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION RECYCLING ASPHALT WITH FOAM

SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION RECYCLING ASPHALT WITH FOAM

We can proudly say that the Uruguayan road has become unrivaled in the last five years. The design engineers have proposed and accepted new technologies, builders have art equipment incorporating the first world countries and we are encouraging, but we shake the pulse, to innovate.

Who would have thought that in our country the technologies to be introduced as modified asphalts based massively?

Who would have thought that the surface treatments and micros with modified asphalts would apply on routes first order?

Who would have thought it stabilize soils with continuous and mobile equipment was to be imposed so quickly?

Only the technical results obtained are certifying all these advances.

The most recent milestone of new technologies pushed him over the past year the company Hernández and González S.A. making a bet unmatched in his work of Route 3. Sparing no technical or economic efforts, the company conducted a site recycling pavement with asphalt foam backed administration. In last December he was terminated the reference work and drove around in full, being able to observe the same high quality in all its aspects.

an expansion platform a recycling of all of the existing road asphalt foam and asphalt mixture of 5 cm thick, several sections with widening of a third rail verges stabilized in situ with cement and waterproofed with asphaltic treatment was performed modified emulsions.

All this work was done in less than 100 working days. As we all know, when Hernandez is proposed, it does, but beyond personal effort, its staff and technology built in Germany show that can be reconstructed 34 km of a road completely new with a guarantee of over 20 years only 100 working days.

This is the reality we want to emphasize, if we want a Uruguay with very good infrastructure, we must use the best technology, the most productive and advanced end up being the most economical and durable.

This result is part of an innovation process together among the companies that participated in the Wirtgen Technology Days 2014 held in Germany, which agreed to bring in conjunction with H & G, Meliter, CVC and Tradinter a South African technician for the purpose of a conference the virtues of applying technologies foamed bitumen (Bulletin October 2014).

This process continued with the addition of equipment and technologies required for their application and hard work in laboratory design all involved. They were also required many hours of training, briefings and of course hard to successfully implement this advanced technology work in the country.

As anecdotario plus all innovations in this work, conducted jointly develop gravillados hot applied in July, during the winter closed season with a very good technical and result only applied at low temperatures in our country (Bulletin July 2016)
