DOUBLE TREATMENT LOCKED IN CIRCUIT 1 PPP

DOUBLE TREATMENT LOCKED IN CIRCUIT 1 PPP

Traxpalco and Hernández and González perform at a very good pace with BITAFLEX RIEGO 65 P40 emulsion

The sections reconstructed by means of Surface Treatment include Route 54 and Route 57 and include a widening of the planimetric correction platform, surcharge and stabilized with Portland cement. Then, a double treatment is being carried out on the pavement at 7.2 m wide and a single treatment on shoulders at 1.8 m wide. The treatment is running with the technique Multiple Treatment Locked (TMT) with highly modified emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFLEX 65 P40 that allows high performance performance and early release to transit as well as saving materials without risk of exudation.
The works of Route 54 that the company Traxpalco is executing have made important progress in their execution since both the stabilization and the surface treatment are scheduled to be completed during the month of May. The works consist of a platform widening to 12 m wide together with planimetric adjustment of the entire section, then the granular material is stabilized with Portland cement to achieve a simple compressive strength of at least 20Kg / cm2. Then the TMT is carried out with highly modified emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFLEX 65 P40 with 6-12 mm aggregate and 12-19 mm with mist irrigation. The performance of the double treatment is above 15,000 m2 / day.
We thank Eng. Guido Saizar and Emilio Aitcin for sharing their concerns and collaborating with our company in continuous improvement.
The complete “Circuit 1” project consists of the reconstruction and maintenance of 260 km of existing route for a time horizon of 20 years, on Routes 12, 54, 55 and 57, as well as the construction of the Bypass in the city of Carmelo.
INAUGURATION OF ROUTE 104 AND ROUTE 10

INAUGURATION OF ROUTE 104 AND ROUTE 10

The synergy between recycled cement and surface treatments show that a route can be rehabilitated at low cost with high performance and quality

Last January 28 The official inauguration of the works took place at the intersection of both routes, in front of Manantiales beach. The Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Luis Alberto Heber, the Mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía, the Director of Roads, Hernán Ciganda and the Directors of the company participated in the meeting.

There are several accolades that the Serviam company has received for the Capeseal that was carried out in more than 33 km of route that were rehabilitated in just 3 months. Not only for the quality of the finished work but also for the speed of execution as well as for the aesthetic and functional improvement of one of the main tourist corridors in Punta del Este.

As we discussed in the Bulletin # 118, the works on Route 104 consisted of cleaning the strip and deepening the gutters as well as the surcharge of between 15 and 20 cm of roughness that was recycled with cement along with the old existing bituminous treatment.

To control cracking, transverse cuts were made with emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFAL 65 with a team specially designed for it. The curing irrigation was carried out with Emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFAL 65 and crushing sand providing excellent adherence and a very good performance as protection of the stabilized base.
Finally, the Capeseal type paving was carried out with a simple bituminous treatment with emulsion. IRRIGATION BITAFLEX 65 P40 and a cold micro-agglomerate with emulsion BITAFLEX MICRO 62 P25
A roundabout was made at a black point on the route and all the signage was renewed by applying highly durable thermoplastic paint, studs and highly reflective signage.
The section of Route 10 from 104 to the entrance to José Ignacio was recycled in 15 cm with Portland cement and then Capeseal as a tread layer.
Both routes achieved an improvement in roughness and slip resistance, as well as a finish similar to asphalt pavement with great contrast to the signage, which translates into improvements in road safety. In addition, an important structural improvement was made that will allow a high durability of the rehabilitated sections.
ROUTE 104 REHABILITATION

ROUTE 104 REHABILITATION

Serviam began the rehabilitation works that will culminate before the tourist season

The route that connects Routes 9 and 10 at Manantiales is being rebuilt along its 15 km length through recycling with Portland cement and a Capeseal as wearing course, similar to what was done on Route 60.
It is an ideal solution due to the aesthetic and functional quality of the combination of treatments for a route that has high light traffic in the summer season.
The works began with a strip cleaning and ditch deepening as well as the surcharge of between 15 and 20 cm of coarse that is being stabilized with cement together with the existing old bituminous treatment.
As in the rehabilitation of Route 18 (Making Paths Newsletter #102), a series of transverse cuts with emulsion is made to control cracking. IRRIGATION BITAFAL 65 with equipment specially designed for it. A radiofrequency motor grader guidance system is also being used that allows a great improvement in the roughness of the section that will later receive a surface treatment.
Irrigation Curing with Emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFAL 65 and grinding sand has excellent adhesion and performs very well as a stabilized base protection.
In the next few days, the Capeseal type paving works will begin with a simple bituminous treatment with emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFLEX 65 P40 and cold microagglomerate with emulsion BITAFLEX MICRO 62 P25.
We will keep you informed of the development of the work in future editions of our newsletter.
Crossed by Route 7

Crossed by Route 7

The general state of the route is good and has done good work that will have long life.

In recent years, a great effort has been made on Route 7 to improve its structural capacity and bring it to a primary route standard. To this end, a widening of the road has been carried out in almost its entire extension to reach a total width of 11 m and double bituminous treatments have been carried out on the 7.2 m road and simple treatments on the shoulders. Cement has been recycled over more than 100 km and granulometric stabilized sections have been carried out to increase the bearing capacity of the pavement.
Structural results speak for themselves, there are no potholes or sinkholes despite the tremendous growth that had heavy route, but we still have way to go to achieve double bituminous treatment resistant and durable from day one.
Exudation treatments presented in several sections of the works recently opened but have been remedied by the construction companies time and no risk for rising or severe bleeding now. It is clear that the sections carried out during the winter are most affected but there are still sections executed in good time they had exudation.
On the other hand those made from October 2019 to date show a very good performance and have not submitted exudates and has been achieved adequate dosing and has been made in good time.
Irrigations A are always in very good condition and this is because the appropriate proportions of aggregate and asphalt are used (because if there are landslides, the base is visible and it is necessary to redo the section), which allows having the necessary voids in the system to prevent exudation. On the other hand, when there are landslides in aggregate B, not much attention is paid to it, since aggregate A “hides” the problem, but that is where the necessary voids are lost, since the asphalt of both irrigations is there, but only to adhere the aggregate. A. This is verifiable in the field since the most compromised sections have a cushion of aggregate B in the ditch and the sections in better condition do not.
In this regard we insist on the following points to prevent premature exudates:
1) Respect the ban
2) Incorporating ball penetration test for the ramming potential at the base arid
3) Make dosing based on rational method Austroads where in addition to the characteristics of the aggregates are incorporated concepts based and traffic
4) In the selection of aggregates, narrow strips search granulometric aridos for irrigation A and B that do not overlap in their belts or are contiguous
5) Executing processing B should be next to or immediately after the A cure system for simultaneously minimizing loss arid B as proposed in multiple treatments locked
6) Use highly modified emulsions (P40 or P60) for those sections which have a high traffic and are in thermal Mediterranean area
7) Making only the risks A
We need to rethink the usefulness of double treatments as new work. Today Today we are making almost all stabilized bases, so a simple treatment that provides impermeability and an adequate macrotexture is more than enough. Irrigation A already cured and in service have a very good mechanical resistance and are capable of withstanding high traffic without problems, there are plenty of examples in Uruguay and in the world. In New Zealand and Australia, only simple irrigation is done in new construction and they are maintained frequently to maintain the necessary safety and functionality characteristics.

Road maintenance

Road maintenance

We made a tour of the fronts of works which are being used Bitafal products.

This time we made 1400 km traveled by different works in progress, or a year of operations, for the purposes of check the technical situation and being in contact with the realities of the same.
In general all routes flown are in good condition but we have to convince us that interventions on the roadways when done in a timely manner so substantially lengthen the quality and durability of our floors. On the other hand we must continue to innovate and look for continuity mechanisms that do not generate electoral cycles ups and downs in the construction industry.
1) Laying asphalt mixture with modified BITAFLEX AM3 on driveway route 5It executed by the company HYG, great work rate and tidiness, a substantial improvement on driveways executed noticeable, providing a long service life of the road.
2) Then we visited the works on route 3 Pass of the Port to Young about 6 years ago and made it in very good shape and visited the recent works carried out by the firm Gofinal / Lemiro Pietroboni in retreading executed asphalt modified asphalt BITAFLEX AM3. I became essential that retreading modified asphalt because it was the only stretch of Route 3 in the vicinity of Young was fatigued.
3) Just finished running route 25 also modified asphalt BITAFLEX AM3. We were accompanying the company Colier Opening of the section of Young to Route 90 which has a traffic of 300 trucks per day wood and general condition of the road it was very bad due to the age of the last interventions.
4) They are starting the work by signing the INCOCI route 90, Which is stabilized with portland cement and seal with a surface treatment made with highly modified emulsions.
5) On Route 30 Route 3, Diaz Alvarez signature is running treatments emulsions IRRIGATION Bitaflex 65 P40, Achieving aggregate adhesion / asphalt very good and well behaved at the high temperatures of the region.
6) We participate in the cuts ribbon inaugurating bridges all route 30, Works of very good quality and excellent execution deadlines were completed 7 months before the deadline, congratulations to the four companies that participated: Saceem, Incoci, Grinor and Cujo.
7) Bases route 30 are being prepared by the firm Tracoviax in its entirety for treatment reinforced emulsions highly modified type IRRIGATION 65 P40 as required by the standard and the respective region.
Sieve executed with bases are being stabilized very well and really congratulates them for the arduous task of mastering the basalts of the north.
8) We review the overall asphaltic treatments region surrounding the city of Artigas and we can certify that his condition is very good. We visited the section executed by Incoci on Routes 30 and 31 as well as performed by Tracoviax on Route 30 and kept in good shape, without exudates or potholes. They are very well executed with the correct dosage, presenting a texture that can be seen in the photos taken.
9) And returning, we passed the landmark CHIPING executed by Colier on route 5 in the sections of hits on Route 43, San Gregorio de Polanco. That stretch was performed for the purpose of a necessary and immediate intervention to last 1 or 2 years, as we have been 8 years and continues to provide adequate service. Only they have been some meters bridging sealing.
We have to convince us that interventions on the roadways, when done in a timely manner, so substantially lengthen the quality and durability of our floors.
That calculation is handled that for every dollar we spend on maintenance, spare 8 future dollars, in this and many other cases are checked handsomely.
We have cases of the Chiping de Ruta 8 of Serviam 4 years, the retreading 2 cm asphalt Arnel Bitaflex AM3 on route 8 which it lasted more than 10 years and only last year was milled and Recapo by the firm Techint. It is very good for our company to see the progress of the work and make returns to our friends.
Until next time.
OPENING OF ROUTE 7

OPENING OF ROUTE 7

They rehabilitated three sections to complete more than 82 km of Route 7 between Reboledo and Jose Batlle y Ordonez.

Tracoviax, Meliter and Colier were in charge of the rehabilitation and widening of carriageway to reach a total width of 11 meters. where recycling was performed with cement to increase the bearing capacity. As for the surface layer double bituminous treatment was conducted with watering fog in the driveway of 7.2 meters. and then banquinas simple bituminous treatment. Contractors trusted BITAFAL supplying the modified emulsions BITAFLEX P25 and P40 IRRIGATION 65.

In addition to work on the route they were made extensions and reinforcements of bridges over streams and Mansavillagra El Potrero and a layout correction in Reboledo making a bypass to such people.

The opening last September 19 was held and attended by Transport Minister Victor Rossi, the Director of Roads Leonardo Cola, elected officials and representatives of the Municipality of Florida and Lavalleja and several colleagues from other road companies of the MTOP and suppliers.

It was carried out in 4 stages: First in Cerro Colorado (Alejandro Gallinal) the Tracoviax company made the ribbon cutting of its section, then a toast was made at the San Pedro del Timote farm, then the opening of the Meliter section was held along with the inauguration of the two bridges mentioned above. Finally, late in the afternoon, the inauguration of the Colier section was held, with the presence of the Mayor of Lavalleja, Adriana Peña.

The work done in this particular stretch, which involved an investment of 530 million pesos, in addition to the sections already opened in Fraile Muerto (along with a new bridge) and between Casupá and Reboledo few years ago. On the other hand these same companies are working in two tranches more to the north of the newly opened. It is estimated that by the end of this year Route 7 will find 80% in very good condition.

NEW TECHNIQUE FOR CEMENT CRACKING CONTROL

NEW TECHNIQUE FOR CEMENT CRACKING CONTROL

Serviam has developed an interesting team to prefisurado recycled with cement.

Drawbacks consabidos generating shrinkage cracks of cemented materials are subject to attack because they can reduce the life of the pavement by water ingress. Usually in our country it has incorporated the technique with a heavy microcracking to mitigate these effects but there are other alternatives globally with specific equipment Compactor.

Serviam company developed a computer adapted to perform a Bobcat injecting the emulsion prefisurado IRRIGATION BITAFAL 65 at a depth of 20 cm each 4 m crosswise.

After initial compaction of the recycled material prefisurado this is done then continue working, leveling and final compaction. Of note is the use of technology to achieve grade project controlled by RF motoniveladora.

Subsequently curing the same emulsion BITAFAL IRRIGATION 65 is performed with quarry dust is released and traffic. By far the results are very good and it shows on the go using technology to control IRI. In the next few weeks they will be starting tasks paving asphalt hot mix in 5 cm surface layer.

We will see the behavior of this technique prefisurado in the future. For now, in every induced cracking and the asphalt it is necessary to prevent water ingress so hopefully a lifetime of work done.

The equipment developed by Serviam has a storage tank emulsion, a positive displacement pump, a wedge (shark fin type) of 25 cm which leaves a pipe 20 cm and a solenoid valve for controlling the dosage from Bobcat.

The fin makes a wedge about 2 cm wide in advancing the equipment is filled with emulsion BITAFAL IRRIGATION 65. Then the material of the side itself closes the wedge and leveling and compaction are performed normally. It can be seen watering cured, made with 1L / m2 of IRRIGATION 65 and 6 L / m2 of dust, marks prefisurado every 4 m in the photos below.

Capeseal on Route 60

Capeseal on Route 60

Making good progress with the implementation Serviam Micro cold on the simple treatment performed on Route 60.

As reported in bulletin # 92 and # 97, the Capeseal on Route 60 resumed its march after the winter closure. Work began from Sugarloaf with high execution performance and excellent surface quality.

Serviam commend the work done and the application of a set of technologies that we believe are the future of our roads.

SAMI ONE BOX 8

SAMI ONE BOX 8

TECHINT again trusts BITAFAL RENTALS the execution of a SAMI membrane.

Is currently running one recoating with conventional asphalt on Route 8 between 150 and 183 km below which is being applied stress relieving membrane (SAMI - by its acronym) emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFLEX 65 P40.

This particular stretch had been retreading Arnel at the end of 2009 with the first production of modified asphalt BITAFLEX AM3 our company supplied locally. That folder 3 cm, designed to last a couple of years, ended up serving for 8 years.

Current work involves milling the modified folder 3 cm, application of the emulsion P40 SAMI membrane and subsequent recoating of 5 cm with conventional asphalt.

HIGH PERFORMANCE EMULSION -BITAFLEX IRRIGATION 65 P40 -

Already there are several companies committed to quality work using the emulsion IRRIGATION BITAFLEX 65 P40 ensuring the life of bituminous treatment.

This product is being usad in various works in the country with excellent performance and in the first summer of use without detachments or risks rising by tires.

It is formulated with a high content of polymers that provide high cohesion and flexibility to the binder. During the summer and especially to the north, the emulsion P40 is being developed with hard asphalts which ensure suitable consistency and avoid potential exudates (with subsequent lifting) Excess binder.
